I was looking forward to a half day of treating myself with care, but my first visit to HC Wellness Center & Spa was very disappointing. I chose one of the Purify packages with a 60-minute colon hydrotherapy, a 60-massage, and 30-minute sauna. The cost was $170.In my mind, a spa is supposed to be clean, sanitary, and welcoming. When I first arrived at the center, I was greeted by a dog! Behind the desk was a very overweight older woman on the phone. She didn't even look up to greet me, so I took a seat. The reception desk was cluttered and dirty as if it had not been dusted in months. When the lady got off of the phone, I learned it was Donna who is the owner and the person who was to be my hydrotherapist.Donna asked me to come back to her personal office which was very tight and cramped. She asked me a few questions and wanted to do the ZYTO Compass Assessment which is a tool that analyzes and addresses any deficiencies within the body. The tool is sort of like a palm reader and has been disapproved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). I am also a Naturopathic Doctor and find this tool to be useless. It does however provide the assessor with information so that she can sell you supplements. While Donna said that she was providing the ZYTO assessment to me free of charge, it was a waste of an hour as she didn't even truly know how to use it and admitted this. It also cut into my time for the day. On top of that, she continually talked about herself and her own health and family troubles. When I talked about my own issues, she brushed it off and replaced the talk with her issues. This in itself is not very professional. After all, I'm paying for the service.Afterwards, Donna performed the colon hydrotherapy. It was 30 minutes long - not 60 minutes as her website advertises. It was my very first session, and it was unworthy for me. Because I had studied about colon hydrotherapy and looked at several hydrotherapists providing this service, I asked Donna about the timing. Most hydrotherapists perform hydrotherapy for 45 minutes per session and sometimes up to 60 minutes for the first session. Her response was that she provides 15 minutes for undressing/dressing and another 15 minutes for toilet time. Since I've been seeing another hydrotherapist and have received 6 sessions thus far, I now know that 15 minutes for toilet time is unnecessary. With a good hydrotherapist, a minute or two is all that is necessary. Plus, who takes 15 minutes to dress and undress?Once my hydrotherapy session was completed, I was given a short robe to put on and was taken to the massage therapy room. I am a size 8, and this robe was so small that it didn't even cover my derriere or breasts. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone in the waiting room as I had to cross it to get to the massage therapy room while constantly holding the front and bottom of the robe. It was quite embarrassing. The atmosphere of the massage therapy room was very nice, and I thought finally I could relax. I can't remember the massage therapist's name, but she was an older lady (probably in her 60s) with short gray hair. She seemed to be very nice. However, the lady would not be quiet throughout the 60 minutes of my therapy. She continually talked about herself and promiscuous male clients that she had throughout the years - including some prominent male figures in Gastonia. When I go to massage therapy, I expect to relax and almost fall asleep. This is the first massage therapist that I could not do that with. On top of that, I learned that massage should be done prior to colon hydrotherapy as it helps the colon to relax and release. It was done out of order at this center. This wasn't because of the center's schedule either as there was nobody there except me during this morning. Initially, Donna told me that this is the order that her center does the Purify package. My final session that morning was for the Infrared Sauna. It was the only time I got a br
